a heartfelt thank you gift for an exceptional 1st-grade teacher

As the boys head into their third full week of school, I can't help but remember that I didn’t share about a special gift I made last year for Remy's awesome 1st-grade teacher! She also taught my hubby, Jamie, way back when in 1st and 4th grades! Talk about a teacher with a special place in our hearts! 💖

This amazing lady poured her heart into teaching for 40 years, touching the lives of so many lucky kiddos, including Remy. When she finally decided to retire, I knew I had to do something super special to show my appreciation. 🌟 So, I made a heart quilt using her favorite colors... and here comes the fun part—I later found out she collects hearts! How serendipitous is that?

I really loved how it turned out and I loved getting to give it to her!

Quilt Details-

Quilt Pattern is Simple Hearts Quilt a free pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew

Fabric is partially from my stash and also partially pulled from Stitch Suppply Co while I was at retreat in March 2023. It features a bunch of fabric from Sarah Watts Firefly Collection.

Backing is a very old V and Co print from my stash- yay for using my stash!! Binding is also from my stash, Alison Glass Cross Stitch.

I quilted in on my Juki using a simple cross hatch pattern following the lines on the backing fabric.
