EPP or bust
2022 is the year that I am going to try English Paper Piecing!!! I have been wanting to try EPP for some time but just haven’t actually taken the leap. In all honesty, I bought some beginner supplies a few years back, didn’t put much effort into learning and quickly decided that it wasn’t for me. In hindsight, I know that I didn’t give it a fair chance. I was intimidated by how much time it would take to prep, sew and then finish a quilt project. At the time I was more interested in finishing Quilts than having long standing WIPs. I had very young children and the appeal of finishing things quickly was too good to pass up. However, as my boys get older I am entering a phase where I am waiting on them more (robotics club/play practice/viola lessons) and the need to “finish” things has lessened. Since I am trying to be better about listening to what I actually want, after years of going with the flow and doing what needed to be done, I am going to try EPP again.
In full crafter fashion I bought a couple of Quilt Kits- go big or go home right?! I have also started watching a few intro videos on how to cut fabric and start sewing. There are differing opinions on this so I will probably try a few until I find one that suits me. I am starting with just simple Hexie Flowers. It might take me a while but hopefully I will have some blocks to share soon! Over the years I have been saving fussy cut 3 inch squares to eventually make a patchwork quilt. However, I have been pulling a few fabrics from that stash to maybe use in my blocks- there are just so many fussy cuts in there that I couldn’t pass them up!
