kp’s sunset quilt

The beach is my happy place. Crystal clear water, soft sand between my toes, and the sound of the waves crashing just can’t be beat. I love swimming with my boys, walking the beach to find treasures and creatures, or just sitting back and taking it all in. The beach is a place that I feel like I can breathe, the really deep breaths that fill your soul. I wanted a quilt that reminded me of that feeling and this is what my heart made.

Even though I have wanted a beach quilt for some time none of the patterns I came across ever seemed quite right. So I decided to make my own abstract sunset quilt making it up as I went along. All this to say, that I have zero pattern recommendations or instructions, I just cut 2.25” strips from my fabric scraps and laid it all out on my design wall until it felt right. And boy does this feel right!! Now when an actual beach trip isn’t in the cards I can wrap myself in this quilt and just breathe.
