quilting journey- pondering the path of my kantha quilt

Confession time: I pulled this fabric ages ago, cut it into 3.5" squares, and then... well, life happened, and the fabric sat patiently on my shelf. My initial plan was to create a beautiful Patchwork Duffle and a cozy Kantha Quilt with this delightful fabric pull. While the duffle dreams still linger, I did miss the Kantha Quilt Sew Along (last August!!)

But here's where I need your input. I'm intrigued by the idea of meditative stitching, but I have reservations about a quilt without batting. I absolutely adore the fluffy-squishy feel that batting adds to a quilt. Have any of you ventured into the world of quilting without batting? What are your thoughts and experiences?

I'm still hopeful that someday I'll embark on my Kantha Quilt journey, exploring the tranquil art of hand stitching. The prospect of infusing love and mindfulness into each stitch entices me. Yet, I can't help but wonder about the comfort and warmth without the traditional batting layer.

So, dear quilting community, I would love to hear your thoughts, insights, and experiences with quilting without batting. Your guidance might just be the inspiration I need to dive into this new quilting adventure!
